Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary

It is located along the north-east border of Goa at Molem, about 60km from Panaji along the national highway  NH4.

It lies south of the mountainous terrain that separates Goa from its neighbor, Karnataka. It covers  an area of 240 square Kms of thick forests along the western ghats and is the biggest of the three wildlife sanctuaries of Goa.

It is rich in wildlife. Within the park  is located  some  famous sites including  the "Devil's Canyon" and  "Dudhsagar Waterfalls" and the ancient " Temple of Tambdi Surla", Goa's only remaining intact temple dating back to the Kadamba period.

The GTDC has tourist cottages in the area called the Forest Resort with a restaurant on site.

Approach

The main approach is via Molem, which lies about 28kms from Ponda on the NH4. The nearest Train station is Colem about 10kms away. All buses bound for Bangalore, Belgaum, Hubli and Hospet stop at Molem. There are also daily services from Ponda.
